What do you get when you combine gyroscopes, barometers, laser range finder, and a Microsoft Kinect camera with a backpack? Researchers at MIT have the answer: a wearable human map building system. The prototype uses these elements to wireless transmit data to a central control station which assembles the information in real time. This technology could be highly useful in the management of personnel during emergency response situations.
