Smartphones transmit a wide range of visuals and other forms of communication, but smell has never been one of them. That is, until now. The Chaku Perfume Co. Ltd in Japan developed a smarphone application and small dock port plug-in device into a product they are calling "Chat Perf". The small device contains an atomizer and smell tank that is triggered by specfic command arrangements from the smartphone application. The result: transmission of smells across cyberspace.
