According to eMarketer, college students' purchases are increasingly driven by mobile usage. In a recent survey by Study Breaks and Campus2Careers, 90% of respondents have used their phones to find deals, coupons and specials. 49% of respondents make purchases from their mobile phones either weekly or monthly.
While mobile commerce activity among college student continues to grow, the study also serves as a reminder the digital communication remains at the forefront of mobile behavior. Facebook remained the top mobile activity outside of talking/texting, followed by e-mail and Twitter.
Mobile is also impacting classwork. Over half of the survey's respondents indicated using their mobile phones for school-related tasks every day.
